What do you do in the North Woods of Minnesota over Fourth of July weekend? You can fish. You can eat (pea salad: peas, bacon, pickles, eggs, velveeta chunks, and a lot of mayo). You can drink (my new favorite domestic [bankrupt] beer, Grain Belt). You can look for loons. Or: You can enjoy the sunrise:
You can take part in the Annual Boat Parade:
For those who don't know, this is a pontoon boat
This is an over-loaded pontoon boat
This, quite frankly, is terrifying.
Or, you can enjoy the Annual Pequot Lakes Beanhole Day:
Welcome to All!
Carefully removing the cauldron of beans...
Easy now...
The John Deere Beanhole Lift Operator (serious job!)
Almost in! The crowd starts to assemble...
Dishin' it out... (for free!)
Puts Boston to shame!
Everyone is psyched! The Beanhole Lift Operator!
The crowds! (Even in the rain)
Everyone except the couple opting for Mini Donuts! Boy, they are missing out! |
