On Sunday, October 15, Elizabeth and I embarked on our honeymoon.  A red-eye from Chicago to Rome, followed by another red-eye from Rome to Mahe, put us on the main island of the Seychelles.  The Seychelles are about 115 islands and atolls in the Indian Ocean, 1000 miles miles due east of Kenya.  Mahe accounts for about 80% of the population of the Seychelles...we were anxious to arrive at our final destination!

Denis Island is a private island and one of the most northern islands in the Seychelles.  After a 30 minute plane ride, we arrived at this tiny island (just wide enough for an airstrip) and settled down in one of the 20 bungalows.  The island had beautiful white sand beaches with no one on them and dense jungle areas.  The bungalows were very well appointed with mosquito nets surrounding the beds and outdoor showers in a private patio.  The fishing, as you will see, was also pretty good.   So was the snorkeling.

After three days on Denis Island, we ventured on to the Lemuria Resort on Praslin Island.  Where Denis was formed from a coral reef, Praslin was actually a granite island.  The beaches were incredible...unfortunately I don't have a good digital photo of Anse Georgette, one of the top-ranked beaches in the world.  The resort was amazing...simple luxury with impeccable service.  We also rented a boat one day and visited some other islands:  La Digue, Isle de Coco, and Curieuse.  Worth a trip!

After three more days in total paradise, we returned to civilization with a flight back to Rome.  On the evening of Monday, October 23, we rented a car in Rome and hit the Amalfi drive on our way to Ravello.  For the first three days we stayed at the Palazzo Sasso...unreal.  We had a room with a large terrace overlooking the sea.   We spent a day in Ravello, an afternoon buying ceramics in Vietri, and a day learning to cook an Italian feast with Mama Agata.  Our meals were unbeatable...as was the hotel!

An easy drive down the coast brought us to Positano, a vertical town on the tip of the Amalfi coast.  We stayed at Le Sirenuse...yet another wonderful hotel overlooking the sea.  We spent four days here eating, visiting Capri, eating, hiking, eating and deciding what our next meal would be.  A great time!

I hope that you enjoy the honeymoon photos.  All of them were taken with my digital camera.  I also took some photos with my Elph and had them digitized.   Unfortunately, it did not turn out well and I have decided not to post them.   If you want to see these, you'll have to come over and join us for a drink!
