My current favorites:
 | Lou Malnati's: Sausage deep dish pizza is the best in the country ($) |
 | Hot Diggity Dog: the best dog in the Windy City, total dive ($) |
 | Blackbird: hands down the best restaurant (for food) in Chicago; great
wine list too! ($$$) |
 | One Sixtyblue: wonderful food in a cool atmosphere ($$$$) |
 | Cafe Absinthe: great bistro-style food with a super-cool bar ($$$) |
 | The Weiner Circle: the rudest dog in town...not for the timid! ($) |
 | Le Francais: Hard-core French in Wheeling, IL...rich but wonderful ($$$$)
{This may have closed} |
 | Gibson's (downtown): the best steak in the city that made it famous ($$$$) |
From what I hear, you have to try:
 | Tru: very expensive and very, very good ($$$$) |
 | Charlie Trotter's: very expensive, very good..a classic ($$$$) |
Avoid:
 | Gibson's (at O'Hare): While the downtown original is good, the sibling at the
airport sucks! (but it may be better than anything else out there!) |
 | Pizzeria Due: Classic Chicago deep dish...without any concern for quality! |
Some other restaurants I suggested for the wedding (but have not been to):
 | Bistro 110: trendy, popular French bistro($$) |
 | Brasserie Jo: cool, lively French bistro ($$) |
 | Rosebud: hearty, classic Chicago Italian ($$) |
 | Coco Pazzo: Italian for the non-New Yorkers ($$) |
 | Harry Carey's: old style Chicago at its best ($$) |
